Rockstar confirmed the 2022 footage, but it hasn’t publicly verified the August 2026 videos. Copyright removals and Take-Two’s legal response make the new material difficult to dismiss, though they don’t prove every claimed detail.
What’s New in the GTA 6 Leaks?
An anonymous account using the name CyberLeek began releasing purported GTA 6 footage on August 18, 2026. Eleven major clips had appeared by August 24, according to a clip-by-clip timeline, with Jason featured in most of them.
The videos reportedly show:
- Basketball and fishing activities
- Cars that may need fuel and repairs
- Tasers, knives, looting, and disarming
- A possible six-star wanted level
- Day and night flights over Leonida
- Store robberies and vehicle-theft prompts
- Cutscenes involving Jason and Cal
- References to switching or returning to Lucia
"My rule with GTA leaks is simple: if Rockstar hasn’t confirmed a mechanic, it belongs in the “interesting, but unproven” box. Debug menus and unfinished systems can also change before release."
Full GTA 6 Gameplay Leak Timeline
September 18, 2022: The Massive Development Leak
A GTAForums account called “teapotuberhacker” uploaded 90 development videos showing an early version of GTA 6. The footage revealed Vice City, playable protagonists Jason and Lucia, robberies, police encounters, dialogue tests, and unfinished animations.
Rockstar confirmed that someone had illegally accessed its systems and downloaded early development footage. The company said the incident wouldn’t cause long-term disruption to its games or services.
December 2023: Trailer 1 Appears Early
GTA 6’s first official trailer leaked on X shortly before its scheduled premiere. This wasn’t raw development gameplay, but it forced Rockstar to publish the proper trailer earlier than planned.
Another low-quality, off-screen clip appeared around the same period and supposedly showed part of the map. Rockstar never authenticated that video, so it remains a rumor.
January 1, 2025: Alleged Rockstar Office Footage
A Reddit post included a photograph and two short videos allegedly recorded inside a Rockstar office in 2021. A development kit and an early game build appeared on a monitor.
The post was deleted, and Rockstar didn’t confirm where the footage came from. Compared with the 2022 breach, this was a small and poorly documented leak.
August 18–24, 2026: The CyberLeek Videos
The latest GTA 6 leak wave arrived almost daily:
- August 18: “Basketball” showed Jason shooting hoops near a house. “Random Video 1” reportedly included driving, wrench combat, and a possible six-star wanted system.
- August 19: “Taser” focused on a nighttime encounter, disarming, a vehicle escape, and a Jason-Cal cutscene. “Junkies” showed knife combat, healing items, taunting, and looting.
- August 20: “Plane (Day)” showed a crop duster, radio options, clouds, and a long flight between locations.
- August 21: Two “Hypercar” videos featured vehicle theft, high-speed driving, fuel and repair indicators, shop robberies, and pistol use.
- August 22: “Strip Club” presented a crowded interior, detailed NPC behavior, and a short cutscene.
- August 23: “Gas” reportedly revealed a death screen and a “Return to Lucia” objective. “Plane (Night)” showed another flight and a possible fishing activity.
- August 24: “Nudist Town” showed Jason using binoculars before a shootout in an adult-themed location.
Rockstar hasn’t confirmed the authenticity of these clips. Take-Two has, however, filed DMCA subpoenas seeking information about people allegedly connected to the leak.
